rhododendron . ( Of the lat. ) rhododendron, and this of the g ?do d? of? d?; de ??d?, pink, and d?(d?, tree). 1. m. seeders of the family Ericaceae, of two to five meters in height, with leaves persistent, leathery, oblong, acute, green and glossy on the beam and pale on the underside, flowers in a corymb, with short calyx and large, bell-shaped, corolla of five unequal lobes, rosy or purple, and capsular fruit. It is characteristic of the mountainous regions of the northern hemisphere and its many varieties are grown as adornment plants.
