Prolapse or prolapse literally means " fall out of place " from the latin prolabi which means " " fall. In medicine, prolapse or prolapse is a condition in which the organs, such as the uterus, fall or slip out of place. It is used for organs protruding through the vagina or rectum or misalignment of the valves of the heart. A herniated spinal disc also is sometimes called " 34 disc prolapse. In relation to the uterus, prolapse condition results in a lower extension of the organ in the vagina, caused by weakened pelvic muscles.
