Unless I'm wrong (which happens quite often), the word platanueces arose as a result of the staging of the musical work that sit-in! premiered in 1989 and revived in 2009. It is an ecological work based on the idea of saving the world through plants. The word itself means nothing. It is the result of combining banana and nuts.
