Meaning of pionío

In Colombia it is another way to call a gigantic wader bird that we also call garzón, welded garzón, jabirú, tuyuyú. Its scientific name is Jabiru mycteria and belongs to the family Ciconiidae . In Colombia and especially in the Plains a tree and its fruits are called a pionío. It is the tree we also call erythrin, bean, balu, coral or chocho. Its scientific name is Erythrina rubrinervia and belongs to the fabaceae family.
