It is the name of a severe and highly contagious disease. It is also called tosferine, pertussis, 100-day cough, whooping cough, coqueluche or convulsive cough. It is produced by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis. It gives at any age, but in young children who have not completed their vaccination scheme, can cause severe disabilities, meningitis and even death. Affects the upper airways.
