It is one of the common names of a small fish like sardines. It is endemic to the State of Veracruz, in Mexico and usually lives in lakes and lagoons of Central America. . Its scientific name is Bramocharax caballeroi and belongs to the family Characidae. The word is of Náhuatl (pepetzca) origin and means bright.
