PAYAQUIS inhabitants of the PAYAQUÍ kingdom, originally from Mexico, and who populated part of Central America, today Honduras (COPÁN), Guatemala (CHIQUIMULA) and El Salvador (METAPÁN, Chalatenango). The kingdom of Payaquí was also called Huey Tlato which means The Great. The kingdom of Payaqui had great influence, it was the reference for the region From various places came the other tribes settled in the area to receive from King C? ?catl Topiltzín Axcitl or Nacxit, the venia of authority.
