1º_ Nautical, astronomical or topographic measuring instrument known in Europe since the thirteenth century. The name comes from its supposed inventor, the French of Jewish origin Jacob ben Machir ibn Tibbon, and from its rod shape; although there are other etymologies. 2º_ The 'palo de jacob' is a dessert similar to petisú.
