In Central America it is a name given to two species of plants. In Costa Rica it is a large fern with edible stems. In several Central American countries, a medium-sized palm tree is also called. There is also the word Pacallo, which is a town in Bolivia, in Coroico, Nor Yungas Province, Department of La Paz.
