Geographical cardinal point to where the sun is hidden. As it is a relative direction, a reference point is usually taken to point it out. The name comes to us from the French ouest that is supposed to come from an ancient word that meant "sunset, west, dusk". It can be represented with the symbol O or W (by English English/west ).
