It's short for "Nippon Victor Company." It was the name used by JVC (Japan Victor Company) abroad. It was dedicated to the production of gramophones, transistor radios, turntables, televisions, recorders and sound equipment. The company is currently called JVC Kenwood.

A Nivico branded transistor radio was a very popular radio receiver in the 1960s and 1970s. As main features it was provided with a single speaker and three bands (short wave, medium wave and long wave)
