It means dedicated to Nansen, in honor of Nansen. It was dedicated to Fridtjof Wedel-Jarlsberg Nansen, a great Norwegian scientist. It is the name of a genus of small fish, which belong to the family Microstomatidae (meaning very small mouth). Also in Astrophysics there is an asteroid with that name and for the same reason.
