It is one of the common names that receives a plant also called jipijapa, toquilla, straw touch or straw toquilla. Its scientific name is Carludovica tetragonia and belongs to the family Cyclanthaceae. It's like a palm. Its leaves are used to make hats and the plant is found from Guatemala, to Bolivia.
