The origin of the word montubio dates back to the liberal period of General Eloy Alfaro Delgado, when among their ranks the majority of its volunteers were the peasant sector of the costa... Montubio derives from two Latin words, montis or mount low vegetation or populated with shrubs and trees; and bios, life; bone means person who lives with his family in the field.
