It is the name of one of the muses of the theater, in Ancient Greece. His name means "The Melodious." It's also the name of an asteroid. In Botany it is the name of a genus of ferns that belongs to the family Polypodiaceae. In Zoology, it is also the name of a genus of venomous spiders, in the family Agelenidae.
