Plural of mato . In Colombia and especially in the Plains it is a way to call some large lizards or lizards. They can measure a metre and a half. They are also called wolves chicks, teyus or penie. Its scientific name is Tupinambis teguixin and belongs to the family Teiidae . Also Matos and/or Mattos is a surname of Galician and Portuguese origin.
