Marconi, is short for marconigrama. A marconigrama was a message that was sent by telegraph. In Colombia, this messaging service was provided by the company Telecom, where it was common to find long lines of people waiting turn to do so. With the implementation of the Internet and cellular phones, this word has been virtually disused, the same as this messaging system.
