The correct term is Mapuritos, although some few say mapurites. They are insects that touch them produces a very foul odor. In Colombia and Venezuela as well as mapuritos, say aphids. Also known as Mapurito to a plant that in Colombia also we say Anamú or garlic plant, because it is very fragrant. Its scientific name is Petiveria alliacea and is used for healing of some kinds of cancer. It is the Phyitolaccaceae family.
