Name of a region located in northern Greece. It is clarified that there is currently in nearby territory a country called North Macedonia and that its capital is Skopje. It belongs to the Balkans. It is also used as a woman's name and means that she is a native of that area. The term as such can mean land of high mountains, high place or men of great stature (referring to its inhabitants). It can also mean land of the Macedonians that was a tribe settled in that region.

furoya

1º_ Ancient kingdom incorporated into the Greek states that existed between the eighth and second centuries BC. C . . Its name seems to come from the Greek 956; 945; 954; 949; 948; 957; 959; 962; ( makednós "tall, tall") , either because of their statures or because they inhabited the northern highlands; although it could also be an eponym of its mythical founder, King Macedon. 2º_ Macedonia was the name of a country in Europe that provoked international claims and passed through other names such as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, until in 2019 the current Republic of North Macedonia was accepted. It is obviously a word inherited from the previous ancient kingdom, which ended up conquering The Helade as an empire. 3º_ Feminine of Macedonian ("name of Macedonia, the country and the kingdom") and of Macedonian (male name). See Macedonian . 4º_ Dessert of pieces of fruit with sugar, syrup, liquor, . . . The name also comes from the first meaning, comparing the mixture of fruits with the variety of peoples that made up the Macedonian empire in the fourth century BC. C . . See fruit salad, fruit cocktail.
