Vinajera, small jar used in mass to carry water and wine used in the consecration.The current communion have replaced ancient amphorae serving to receive and take the chalices with hama or amula name wine offered by the faithful at the mass. Frequently, they were beautiful richly decorated metal jugs. Others were made of glass or clay.The reduced form of the current communion dates, at least, of the 12th century.
