Derived from the word AnquiloglosiaLa tongue tie, or tethered tongue is a common congenital condition characterized by an abnormally short lingual frenulum and the inability to extend the language. The frenulum can extend with growth to produce normal function. If the degree of tongue tie is severe, can be affected language, forcing further therapy of language or surgical correction. When the child is able to extend their language enough to moisten the bottom lip, then it is usually not indicated the frenectomía.
