Huelva is the name of a city, municipality and province in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It has an Arab origin by 1608; 1604; 1576; 1577; (Welba), surely taken from the Latin name Onuba, which is a contraction of the Phoenician Onos Baal ("fortress of [the god] Baal"). Precisely because of its original name, the name is Huelva.
