It is a genus of venomous snakes in the family Lamprophiidae. They are found in South Africa. They are called spotted snakes or harlequin snakes. Homoroselaps, means very close or very proximal, adjacent or related to the Elaps or Elapidae (venomous snakes). Venomous snakes very close to or similar to elaspid ones.
