It is a more common paraphilia in women whereby they are sexually attracted (sometimes only romantically) to criminals or social misfits. The name was proposed by psychologist and sexologist John Money in the 1950s taking the Greek word 965; 946; 961; 953; 962; (hybris "hibris, excess, defiance of norms or gods") and the suffix -philia.
