Meaning of güija

Danilo Enrique Noreña Benítez

güija
  9

It is a wooden board that has alphabet and numbers with which you can presumably establish contact with spirits that do not belong to the earthly plane. The term ouija can also be used in the same sense.

furoya

1º_ Güija is the name of a lake on the border between El Salvador and Guatemala. 2º_ It is the Spanish version of ouija, a board that supposedly serves to communicate with beings from another plane of existence such as ghosts or demons. Although it is the form recommended by the RAE, it is the least used in Spanish, which also does not respect the original pronunciation.
