Meaning of gurapa

In Colombia it is another of our fruits of the family Cucurbitaceae. It is very similar to gulupa and congolo. In many regions they are confused and also called cholupa. The 3 are similar to granadilla or passion fruit, but smaller in size and the gurapa matures in yellow or gold, the gulupa in purple and the congolo in yellowish green. It is also a way to call crows (the word is of Arabic origin) or a way to call a type of boat (guraba or gurab).

In the Santander region of Colombia it is known as gurapa a fruit of wild origin that is produced in vines similar to the gulupa plant with its purple fruits, with the difference that those of the gueapa are green at first and then take a yellow color and its bark is harder. The vines are strong and their leaves elongated and abundant
