It is also called guartinajo, common paca, guagua, lapa, chilo, majaz or tepezcuintle. Its scientific name is Cuniculus paca and it belongs to the Cuniculidae family. In Colombia it is also a common name given to a palm tree. It is the Astriocaryum triandrum of the family Arecaceae.
