Glaciation: f. (Geol. ) Terrestrial period in which the overall temperature of the Earth fell significantly, giving rise to the expansion of the ice was considerable. The glacial periods have existed in almost all geological eras, but usually refers to the four glacial periods that took place during the Quaternary.
