GÍNJOL ziziphus Lotus , ziziphus ziziphus , ziziphus jujuba tree plant of the genus Ziziphus in the family Rhamnaceae . There are more than 40 species. It is a tree native to South and East Asia (China) and is cultivated in other parts of the world of tropical or temperate climate, such as Spain or the state of Cohauila in Mexico, for its edible fruit.
