Gial or Yal is one of the common names in America of passery birds of the family Thraupidae. They are also known as jumpers, jumpers, fruits, seedbeds, tangaras.
In Puerto Rico it is used but with the pronunciation Yal and refers to a woman, cafre, poorly spoken, uneducated, spoiled, ridiculous etc.
