Meaning of flit

furoya

flit
  7

1º_ FLIT is a trademark of insecticide created and marketed in the 1920s by the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey (USA), today ExxonMobil. It was composed of DDT but in the 1950s the formula was changed when the serious effects of that compound on the environment became known. The name seems to come from the English fly-tox (for "toxic to flies"). 2º_ It is also called the "flit gun", a sprayer with a hand pump that was used to spray the poison in the air; but that in practice served for any liquid applied as an aerosol.
