feldspar . ( Del al. ( Feldspat ). 1. m. common name of various mineral species, white, yellowish or reddish, resinous or Pearly shine and great hardness, as part of igneous rocks, like granite. They are chemically complex silicates of aluminum with sodium, potassium or calcium, and small amounts of oxides of magnesium and iron. Among the most important feldspars are the ortosa, the albite and Labradorite.
