Everest or Éverest is the western name for the mountain with the highest summit on the planet, at 8848 m. n . m . recognized, in the Himalayas (Asia). It was named after the British Surveyor General of India Andrew Scott Waugh, as a tribute to his predecessor in office George Everest. However, there are local names for this mountain, which in English can be transliterated from Tibetan as Chomolangma.
