In medicine it is the name of a chronic disease, of metabolic type, which is characterized by a high presence of glucose levels in the blood. It is caused by poor insulin production in the pancreas. Over time and poorly controlled it comes to affect other organs, such as the heart, kidneys, eyes and nervous system.
