The prefix Greek quot; poli quot; written at the beginning of some words means numerous, very much. Lexemic or semica is refers to the sema, that is the unit or trait minimum of meaning that difference to a word of another. Example: animal, feline and four-legged are semas which constitute the meaning of cat. Therefore polysemic or polysemic is an adjective relative to the polysemy, property of a word that has several or many meanings.
