Maipo province is located in the Center-South of the Metropolitan Region of Santiago. Its area is 1.120,5 km² and has a population of 430.570 inhabitants. The provincial capital is the city of San Bernardo, which is part of the so-called great Santiago. Formerly the Department of Victoria, in honour of the victory at the battle of Maipu.la administration of the province is committed to the Governor Gustavo Marcos Escobar, by profession engineer trade and militant of the Socialist Party.
