The encaustic, which derives from the Greek enkaustikos ( ' record with 39 fire; ) is a technique of painting is characterized by the use of wax as a binder of pigments. Mix effects very covering and is dense and creamy. The paint is applied with a brush or a hot spatula. The finish is a polishing is done with rags of linen on a coat of hot wax previously extended ( in this case already does not act as a binder, but as protection ). "
