'Phytosanitary' . From the Greek 'phyto-' (plant or vegetable) and sanitary from the Latin 'sanitas' (health). 1 . Plant health. 2 . Phytosanitary products are those products used in various agricultural activities aimed at preventing, controlling or destroying any harmful organism, including unwanted species of plants or animals. Most plant protection products are presented in a liquid state and are marketed in rigid plastic packaging. Its overuse contributes to the degradation of the environment (soil, water) and food contamination. Glyphosate, a herbicide, is one such example.
