Titicaca-obviously this name is derived from the quechua phrase do ICT - ti ghagh-gha which means do Gorge of the wart does, by several razon:primero.-in quechua is called the wart does ICT - ti do, and, of course, do ghagh-gha does means broken do second-because the natives are confident that the cattails are the preferred habitat of the vector of the wart.????????Third.-in the Titicaca Lake there are many cattails.Four.-the vector of the Peruvian wart or lutzomyla is better known as tityra, name that can be derived from the quechua phrase do ICT-ti-rur-raj which means do producer of the wart does.???? Therefore, Titicaca = Gorge of the wart.
