Meaning of gorupo by Rudy Ruiz Jr.

Rudy Ruiz Jr.

gorupo
  24

My Mom and Dad called the small beetles that often infested wheat flour and cornmeal "gorupos". The eggs for these insects are already in the bags we buy at the store. Our government allows a certain number of eggs, insect parts, rat hairs and feces in all types of food we consume every day. It's only a matter of time before the eggs to hatch and the larvae to mature.

"Gorupos emerged from the old bag of flour that had sat on the shelf for 3 years."
