Common name for various plants of the family umbelliferae, about 2 m in height at the most, with plump, hollow stem, soft, stink and toothed leaves, small white flowers, and tiny blackish seeds. The juice of this herb is a toxic alkaloid called cicutina. Poison derived from this plant.
