Literary Figure : noun with which life, name and role are given to the fictional character who is supposed to act as the protagonist in the story, in the story or in the fable. The concept of Figure is often confused with Form, which is idiom or way of using one or more words to refer to a different matter, figuratively. Example of Literary Figure : Don Quixote , the prophet Jonah , King Arthur, Popeye the sailor, The Colonel, The Rooster Claudius. Example of literary forms : Metaphor , Analogy , Hyperbole , Retruécano , Gradation , Apostrophe , Calambur , Allegory , Hyperbole , Irony , Paradox , Oxymoron , Onomatopoeia , Sinesthesis , Pleonasm , Perimfrasis , Etopeya , Prosopography , Polysindeton , Ellipsis , Antithesis , Assndeton , Description, Quiasmo . MODISMOS are not Figures although many Figures are used as Idioms in literature and colloquial language. Example of Modism : Alias , which is used to indicate the nickname or pseudonym of the character or Literary Figure . In some regions, the "alias" is a derogatory idiom, because it is used to suggest that it is a criminal.
