According to the Indigenous people who populated the missions of the caroni, Chirica meant "NEW CITY". Since it was an extensive savannah where grew a village managed and ruled by the Spanish missionaries or priests. It was where food was grown, Coffee, Cocoa, Cane, Vegetables, Cattle Ranching, Livestock Swine, Poultry, Livestock, Coal Mines, Leather Production, etc.
