In some parts of the Caribbean, North of Colombia and Northern Venezuela, Malay is used as a form of curse especially luck although it can be used in other ways. Ex: malaya is my luck, Malaysian life, etc. Many songs such as boleros of the Caribbean, Dominicans meringues, Colombian vallenatos, use the Malay expression in this sense.
