The Hawkfish were religious form known by abakua or ñáñigos, who brought to Cuba and it is precisely in the ritual language of the abakuá is used where very often the asere voice, whose translation to the Spanish would be " I salute you ". Many linguists attributed the word to other African religions such as lucumí where there was a similar word: asere, which was used to refer to the loco.
