A theory proposed by biologist Charles Darwin that explains the evolution of living species through natural selection that allows the best survival characteristics to be maintained and transmitted to offspring. Although his work The Origin of Species is now outdated and superseded by new theories, it is still respected for being the first to propose a possible scientific model to sustain evolutionism.
