Comayagua is the name of a department, a municipality and its capital in the Republic of Honduras. It has its origin in the Lenca dialect and means "wasteland of water".
In Honduras it is the name of a Department (formerly also a Police Station and Province) and a municipality. In the Lenca language it means "Wasteland of abundant water". It is also called La Antañona, due to its antiquity.
