Meaning of coatí de cola anillada sudamericano

furoya

coatí de cola anillada sudamericano
  23

It seems to me that it is only "ring-tailed coati" (Nasua nasua), the "South American" is a redundancy, probably because of the confusion with the "ring-tailed lemur" (Lemur catta), from Madagascar (Africa). See coati, mishasho.

JOHN

SOUTH AMERICAN RING-TAILED COATI species of carnivorous mammal of the family of the procyonids that inhabits predominantly in the South American jungles and the southern part of Central America. Its tail has alternating white rings with rings the color of the rest of its skin.
