Civilization, using the term in a restricted sense, is a complex society.[1] [2] Civilizations differ from tribal societies based on kinship [3] by the predominance of urban way of life ( the city, which imposes social relationships more open ) and sedentary lifestyle ( that it involves the development of agriculture and from her all kinds of technological and economic developments with the Division of labour, the marketing of surpluses [4] and, later, industrialization and the tertiarisation ).[5] With few exceptions, civilizations are historical, i.e. used writing to the registration of their legislation and their religion ( aparecidas with political power - Kings, States - and religious - temples, clergy - ) and for the perpetuation of the memory of his past ( including the emergence of the concepts of historical time and calendar ).If used in a broad sense, civilization becomes a synonym of culture ( encompassing visions of the world or ideologies, beliefs, values, customs, laws and institutions ) that is often applied more generally.Etymologically, the word " civilization " indirectly derives from the Latin civis ( citizen ) through civil and civilized.
