cihuatán is incorrectly written, and should be written as "cihuatán" being its meaning: cihuatán = Cihuatancihuatan is a pre-Columbian archaeological site in El Salvador. It is located in the municipality of Aguilares in the Department of San Salvador. The city was built and inhabited between the years 900 and 1200 A.d. Its inhabitants were indigenous Maya, but it is possible that there were other ethnic groups in the city and the architecture and artifacts demonstrate strong links with both Central America and southern Mexico, especially Veracruz and Puebla. ). The archaeological site is administered by the National Foundation of archaeology from El Salvador. the Park is developed and contains Museum, toilets, picnic area and an interpretive trail.View from the Piramide CihuatanCihuatán is considered as one of the greatest archaeological sites of El Salvador, with an expansion estimated at about three square kilometers. It is located on a hill and an area surrounded by rivers in the vicinity of the volcano of Guazapa. The Archaeological Park encompasses an area of 75 hectares.
